Emily Bourlet

Sustainability Manager at Mitsubishi Corporation

Emily is Sustainability Manager at MC’s European headquarters. Her main focus is on advancing the company’s human rights agenda. For the past few years she has been dedicated to embedding human rights and anti-slavery measures into business operations across Europe. She has done this through engaging seven business groups working across diverse sectors in tailored value chain mapping, and developing processes and guidelines to ensure that management of these issues becomes business-as-usual. Her work is underpinned by education – by continuously working to demystify the complex human rights and anti-slavery language she has achieved board-level support and transformed the mindsets of key influencers across the company.

Ocean sustainability is another key area for Emily. For several years she has led a global programme that assesses the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on marine ecosystems. By working in partnership with leading scientists the programme has achieved some ground-breaking results, and is supporting ocean-dependent countries to implement new innovative solutions to these challenges.

Emily is passionate about gender equality and is helping to drive change within the company. She also enjoys learning, and has taken part in the WBCSD’s Future Leaders Programme and Forum for the Future’s School of Systems Change.
