Louise Vilain

Storage strategy project coordinator

Louise is the Group project manager of the EDF “electricity storage plan”. Electrical storage could be a major breakthrough for a utility company like EDF in the decade to come: developing massive storage capacity to complement the development of renewables is a huge business opportunity for the EDF Group. Electrical storage could allow EDF to demonstrate its leadership in the whole value chain: from rural areas in West Africa with solar home systems, to massive hydro pumped storage in Dubaï, and to more R&D in battery to ensure that the sustainability around rare earth elements. Thanks to Louise’s work, this year EDF adopted in march 2018 the “Plan Stockage”, which represents an investment of €8 billion by 2035, and which has already started delivering results: Europe’s largest battery being commissioned in the UK (49 MW) and solar home system using battery kits serving 200,000 people in Africa.

Louise is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC).
